Frances Lorraine

Biography

Frances Lorraine Samson is a New York based artist originally from Toronto, Canada. At 19, she joined the world-renowned Limon Dance Company as the youngest and only international dancer. As a soloist with Limon, she has performed at Palacio de Bellas Artes, Lincoln Center and Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival to name a few. The Boston Globe describes her as "absorbing, steadfast and compelling". She has had the pleasure of performing for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Walt Disney World, TEDx, Miss Universe Canada, New York Fashion Week and Rotary International, and has collaborated with Grammy-Award winning artists Nona Hendryx and Jonathan Gandelsman. Frances was a resident artist at the Danish National Academy of Music in both 2018 and 2019, sponsored by the Department of Global Affairs Canada. Frances is a reconstructor for the José Limón Dance Foundation and as a teacher, she has worked in prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, LaGuardia High School and the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre. Frances is currently working with Award-winning choreographers Twyla Tharp and Baye & Asa.
