Renée Austin

Biography

Originally from Chicago, IL, Renée began training in 2004 at Mayfair Dance Academy under the direction of Peggy Sutton and continued training at numerous dance institutions around the country, including Diverse Elements Dance Studio, Velocity Dance Center, and Spectrum Dance Theater in their Academy Program. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Dance and minor in Psychology (2023), Renée’s talent has led her to learn from and work with renowned artists including Donald Byrd, Anthony “Redd” Williams, Antonio Douthit-Boyd, Kia Smith, VIM VIGOR, Rosanna Tavarez, Annie Rigney, Melanie George, Ashley Tate, MJ Imani, Tiala Taylor, Brandon Hudson, Persi Mey, Xi Zhao, Eva Stone, Cecil Slaughter, David Marchant, Joanna Dee Das, and more. A choreographer, teacher, and performing artist, Renée has worked with numerous organizations including COCA, Anheuser-Busch, Tart Techniques and Entertainment, The Black Rep, Utopia Experiences, STL Rhythm Collaborative, RESILIENCE Dance Company, and St. Louis Artist’s Guild through Jazz Shift. She has performed, choreographed, assistant choreographed, and creative directed for artists such as Jasmin Savoy Brown, Aaliyah Weston, Faith Miller, Hana Canhasi, Keshon Campbell, and more. Renée is a company artist with Kode Redd Dancer Company.
