Biography

Jade Joan is a multidisciplinary dance artist, choreographer and poet. Born in Toronto, Jade has trained extensively in contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tutting, heels, and commercial styles, Jade brings a dynamic and versatile movement language to her work. She has worked with choreographers such as Christopher Scott, Galen Hooks, Will Loftis, Emilio Dosal, Ebony Williams, Comfort Fedoke, Phillip Chbeeb, Amy Gardner, Monika Felice Smith, Luther Brown, The Squared Division and Mike Song. Jade has been featured in major productions such as Wicked, Schitt’s Creek, Suicide Squad, and Disney’s Zombies trilogy. She has also appeared in Sneakerella, Spin, Netflix’s Ginny and Georgia, Julie and the Phantoms, The Christmas Chronicles 2, FX’s What We Do In the Shadows, The Strain, Locke & Key, and more. Jade is also known for her roles on youth-focused series like The Next Step, Make It Pop, Backstage and for playing the beloved “Utensiler” on TVO’s Odd Squad. Her motion-capture credits include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and League of Legends. In the music industry, Jade has performed with artists such as Ariana Grande, FKA twigs, Tate McRae, Giveon, and Nick Jonas, with appearances at events like the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, the MMVAs, and the MTV European Music Awards. In 2013, she co-directed and choreographed the contemporary dance show Fill Up & Get Out alongside Emma Portner.
