Amanda Donato

Biography

Amanda Donato is a Canadian dancer, choreographer and educator with a layered and multidisciplinary approach to her body of work. Her lifelong fascination and studies in cognition and human behaviour are a cornerstone of her creative processes. She approaches dance through a persistent negotiation of intellectualizing and emotionalizing. Her work is also influenced by her formative years working and collaborating in the Toronto commercial scene. Since relocating to Europe, she has performed in Sonár, Berlin Art Week, Berghain, and presented work in festivals and showcases such as Platform 14, ZUKUNFT TANZT and SOLOCOREOGRAFICO. She is also a member of Kiani del Valle’s KDV Performance Group and Franka Marlene Foth’s FMKF Collective. Her teaching practice is strong and she often returns to North America to teach and choreograph for competitive dancers. She holds her B.A in Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University and her Yoga Teaching Certification. Amanda makes her debut as a solo artist with “A WAKE”, premiering September 2024.
