Emma Evelein Dance & Choreography
Emma Evelein is dancer, choreographer and director. She graduated at the Amsterdam School of Arts in urban/contemporary dance and physical theatre in 2015. After her studies she continues her training in contemporary dance learning from programs with Kibbutz Contemporary dance Company (IS) and Batsheva Dance Company (IS). In 2014 Emma started to choreograph for film, it was there and then her love for the combination was developed. After her company life she started her own company in choreography for theatre and dance. For her work ‘A flood remains’, ‘Sisters’, 'Fiftyone/Fourtynine' and others she won choreographic and directing awards national- and internationally. For her directing- and writing debut 'Lucid Dreaming', she was awarded a Dutch Academy Award for Best Short 2023. She has choreographed and teaching her choreography and dance methods in over 23 countries. In 2021 she won the NDT partnership award, where she will have a choreographic intership together with Remy Tilburg. 'Moonlight innocence' and 'Train to Pluton' were created for Mannheim Dance Theater and in 2024 she will create for MiR (Germany) And Rambert Dance Company (London). Next to that she is a guest teacher at the Amsterdam School of Arts in urban/contemporary dance and physical theatre. Next to her work she researches her vision on choreography and dance film and coaches’ other directors in movement in film. In 2024 Emma signed a director's contract with Studio Studio Productions Agency Amsterdam.
