Claire de Caluwe

Biography

Claire de Caluwe (She/Her) was born in Amsterdam, 1999. She started dancing ballet at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam when she was younger and finished her pre dance education at Codarts, Rotterdam. She studied Urban Contemporary dance at the University of The Arts in Amsterdam. Last season, she joined Dutch dance company: ‘The Scapino Ballet’ in Rotterdam. She was part of the ‘Young Talents Program’ as a trainee. She is currently working as a freelance dancer & model since 2021. “As a contemporary dancer, I find value in communication through movement. How can bodies communicate with each other in a way that we can bring the experience to the audience? Art is a poetic translation of life. I get inspired by collaborations and projects that are a combination of interdisciplinary work.“ "As a performer, I give value to work from an inside, honest place. I think there is a creative, playful and curious landscape in every individual. It gives an extra exciting dimension to the work. During the creation process in the studio, it is important to me to have fun and be open. I like to have an active presence and think along. I love to work and train in different qualities and dance languages. Creating a color palette as a dancer excites me and enriches the quality of my being. I am an ambitious and curious person and very dedicated and passionate about my work as an artist. I am ready to discover, play and groove!"
