CASTING NOTICE

Overall we are looking for 20 dancers who are able to learn and retain choreography while adding personality and charisma.

Welcoming all styles of dance, but experience in the following is a plus: Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, Waacking, Jazz, Contemporary, Afro

The dance segments include a Hip Hop piece and a Disco piece that plays homage to Soul Train.

NIGHTCLUB DANCERS: 20 to 40 years old, BIPOC, male or female. We are looking for happy people gettin’ down in the club. Show your personality, sense of humor/fun, and retro moves. Character Reference: 1970’s Soul Train dancers ('Funk Dancers' series)

QUEEN RUBY'S CREW/DANCERS: 20 to 35 years old, Black, Mixed Ethnicity female. These birds are Queen Ruby’s girl-gang and an extension of her disruptive nature. Their look and attitude can be alternative/Afropunk, ’bad & bougie’, or tough and intimidating. Above all, they have confidence and compliment Ruby.

Special Notes: There is no narrative and no main characters, only six independent musical performances making up our experimental film. We are looking for singers, performers, and/or dancers.

The Tweetations Revue is a live-action short film and musical fantasy, celebrating black music, style, and performance from the 60’s to today. The world we are presenting is The Great Tree, where birds of all feathers sing and dance together. This fantastical universe will transfix viewers (young and old) and draw them into the songs and expressions of birds.

Dancers and performers will be required for 1-2 days of rehearsal(s) one week prior to shoot day. Performers will be required for wardrobe fittings and one shoot day only.

Fittings & Rehearsals will be held during the weeks of April 18-29, 2022. Please note that performers will only be required for one day of shooting.

Shooting Week: May 1-7, 2022

We will be following the ACTRA Tier 3 Guideline for rates that will be paid in CAD.

We will require testing at least 24 hours prior to the start of work.

AUDITION SIDES: Using this song ('Ripple -- The Beat Goes On And On 1977' from 1:24- 2:26), please shoot in a Wide shot to showcase freestyle dancing ability. The callback will be a choreographed sequence

AUDITION SIDES: Using this song ('Megan Thee Stallion - Savage' from 00:00-00:57), please shoot one Medium Close-Up to showcase expressions/attitude and/or one Wide shot to showcase freestyle dance ability.
